Jeanette Alene Hayes

Jeanette Alene (Mosher) Hayes, 79, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away on March 13, 2017 at her home in Emmett Township.  Jeanette was born in Battle Creek to Frank and Wynonia Mosher on December 22, 1937. 
 
Along with her parents, Jeanette is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Sylvester "Syl" Hayes; a son, Jerry A Gates; two granddaughters, April Lynn Gates & Nicole Crystine Gates; and her beloved Sister, Barbara Hermon.  Jeanette is survived by her sons, Steve Gates, Cubby Gates, Ronald (Wendy) Gates, and Glen Gates, all of Battle Creek; her grandchildren, Sharon Gates of Utah, Ronald II (Jessica) Gates of Hastings, Jeanette Gates, Joey Gates, Bobby Gates, and T.J. Gates, all of Battle Creek; her step-grandchildren; Christopher Cooley, April Francisco-Armstrong, Rick Roberts, Regina Roberts, and Amelia Harris;  22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; her brother, Butch (Jill) Mosher; her sister, Norma Heckman; as well as many nieces and nephews, and her best friend of 30 years, Terri Koch, of Battle Creek.
 
Jeanette was truly the glue that held her family together.  She was a dependable, and caring woman to all who knew her.  In her free time, she could often be found looking after one of her many grandchildren or great-grandchildren, which was one of the great joys of her life.  She also enjoyed reading, and solving jigsaw puzzles.  She will be greatly missed by those who knew her, but especially by her family, who are lost without her.

The family will receive friends 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where funeral services to celebrate Jeanette's life will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 20, 2017. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the American Cancer Society.
