Jeanette Marie (Hoffman) Higgs

Jeanette Marie Higgs, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026. She was born on December 13, 1946, in Battle Creek to Harden and Dorothy Hoffman. On October 9, 1965, Jeanette married Steven K. Higgs. Together, they shared 61 years of marriage and built a loving family.

Jeanette graduated from Pennfield Public Schools and Kellogg Community College with a nursing degree. She served her community as a labor and delivery nurse at Community Hospital, The Family Health Center of Battle Creek, and several local OB/GYN practices. She was also a member of Pennfield Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon. Jeanette cherished time spent with family and friends. She especially enjoyed gathering with her friends to play bunco.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Steven; her children, Crystal Higgs, Kent (Marissa) Higgs, Brent (Charlotte) Higgs, and Matthew (Julie) Higgs; her grandchildren, Taylor Humphries, Emylee Humphries, Drew Higgs, Ashleigh Higgs, Brock Humphries, Ellie Higgs, Evan Higgs, Lauren Higgs, Brady Higgs, and Adeline Higgs; six great-grandchildren; her brothers, Duane Hoffman and Gayland (Debbie) Hoffman; and her brother-in-law, Michael Higgs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harden and Dorothy Hoffman; her parents-in-law, Frank and Marie Higgs; her brother-in-law, Danny Higgs; and her granddaughter, Josie Higgs. Jeanette will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family, her friendships, and her many years of compassionate service to others.

Friends will be received on Saturday, October 17th from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM at Pennfield Presbyterian Church with a service to follow beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place at West Pennfield Hicks Cemetery.
