Jeffrey Brian Lambert, Residential General Contractor, age 65, died the night of Tuesday, May 19, of natural causes related to a cardiac event at his home in Richland, Michigan.
Jeff was born on December 17, 1949 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Lewis "Jack" and Doris Lambert. Doris, age 90, lives in Lake Odessa, Michigan.
Jeff attended Western Michigan University from 1968-1972. He later built a career in painting and general contracting, having starting his own business around the time his son was born in 1981. From 1981-2015, he ran his own business, developing a reputation for creative and high-quality work. His business primarily spread through word-of-mouth across the Kalamazoo region, and he gained many repeat customers who appreciated his work ethic and devotion to their homes. Throughout his career, many friendships grew between him and his customers, who appreciated his wit and humor in complement with his excellent craftsmanship.
Outside of work, Jeff was, above all, an ardent golfer. He used the same Ben Hogan golf clubs for over thirty years, getting much joy from scoring better than his friends who paid fortunes for their sets. He customized clubs for his son at age four and introduced his wife to golf soon after. Some of his favorite moments were on the golf course - weekend rounds with family, Fridays with friends from Maple Hill and elsewhere, following his son on his high school golf team, league nights at Mullenhurst, and many Hokey Opens. In addition to golf, Jeff played a beautiful harmonica. He regularly played with the Hokey Band on Thursday nights at the Barn and occasionally joined other musician friends.
Jeff was married for forty years to Lucinda Lambert, who still lives in Richland, Michigan. Their son, Jesse Lambert, lives in Arlington, Virginia.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Richland Chapel, where funeral services to celebrate his life will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
