Jennifer Marie “Jen” Carl of Richland, MI

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jen, age 39, who died Wednesday morning, April 16, 2025 at home with her loving family by her side after a courageous six year battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Jen, the daughter of Deacon Michael A. and Mary Kay (Richmond) Carl, was born in Kalamazoo, MI on July 19, 1985. She was a 2003 graduate of Gull Lake High School, previously a teacher’s assistant at Light of Christ Academy and assistant Parish secretary at St. Ann Catholic Church (of which she was a member). Jen was the founder of Jenuine Designs and Michigan Camo Company, born from her wonderfully creative mind. A licensed cosmetologist by trade, Jen would love to express herself with her ever changing hair colors of blue, purple and pink.

Jen was a woman of incredible strength and unwavering faith. A devoted Catholic, she drew comfort and courage from her beliefs, especially during her illness. Her strength, compassion, and resilience were a light to all who knew her.

She was a passionate artist, finding beauty and expression even in the most difficult times. Jennifer shared her art not just with loved ones, but with the doctors, nurses and other caregivers who walked alongside her, often brightening their day with her creativity.

Above all, Jen was a loving mother to her cherished 13 year old daughter, Annalyse Mary Gilmore (7th grader) of Richland, MI, who was her greatest joy and proudest legacy. She is also survived by her parents, Mike and Mary Carl of Richland; three brothers, Michael (Kristin) Carl of Galesburg, MI; Patrick (Jenica Mastenbrook) Carl and Matt “Boomer” (Jennifer) Carl, both of Richland; three nieces, Mackenzie, Isabelle and Charlotte; three nephews, Cohen, Paxton and Rhett and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jen’s family will greet friends on Monday, April 21st from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the St. Ann Parish Hall, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta, MI 49012 where the rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm in the Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22nd in St. Ann Catholic Church, by Monsignor Michael A. Osborn, Celebrant and Father David Pinto, concelebrant. Burial will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery, Richland. The family will continue Jen’s Life Celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon at St. Ann Parish Hall, immediately following the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be directed to Annalyse Mary Gilmore College Fund, c/o Mary Carl, 9765 East DE Avenue Richland, MI 49083 or the Blood Cancer Foundation of MI, 27655 Middlebelt Road, Suite # 160, Farmington, Hills, MI 48334.
