Jerry Jean (Tom) Fuller, 83, of Battle Creek, was at home being cared for by her family and Hospice Care of SW Michigan, when she was called to her eternal home by her Lord & Savior.
Jerry was born March 25, 1934 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Lucius Virgil and Jeanette (Ewing) Tom. She grew up in Auburn Heights and was a 1952 graduate of Avondale High School. She attended Wayne State University School of Nursing, but left to care for her sister when her mother passed away. Jerry always wanted to be a mother and so this was the beginning of her dedicated, loving and devoted care for her family and anyone who needed a hand. After her children were older and in school, she worked for the Battle Creek Public Schools as a special education aide.
Jerry Jean Tom was united in marriage to Harry Richard Fuller on June 11, 1955 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Sadly Jerry was preceded in death by her husband, Harry on March 9, 2005. Surviving are their children, Janet L. Soller of Rochester Hills, David A. Fuller of Battle Creek, Steven R. Fuller of Spanish Fort, AL, Richard A. (Melinda) Fuller of Creston, NC; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Jerry was also preceded in death by her daughter, Susan M. Fuller, granddaughter, Jesse and a sister, Betty Richardson.
Jerry was a 58 year member of Maple United Methodist Church. She was always volunteering at numerous local agencies, including the Northeast Neighborhood Food Pantry and Sally's Soup Kitchen at the Salvation Army. Jerry gave rides, helping people make their appointments and run errands. Her life was her family and she was a mother, grandmother and friend "on the move" helping and doting on everyone. Jerry will be remembered as a mother to the world.
