Jerry Emerson Pratt

d. November 11, 2024

Battle Creek, Michigan

Jerry Emerson Pratt, 82, of Battle Creek, Michigan died at home, after a brief illness, on November 11, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born in Flint, Michigan to Ronald K. and Lula (Skutt) Pratt. He grew up in Mount Morris, Michigan and graduated from Mt. Morris High School, Flint Junior College and earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial management from Michigan State University. After graduating, he honorably served in the U.S. Army in Fort Benning, GA, achieving the rank of sergeant. Jerry was employed by the Kellogg Company for 30 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1995.

Jerry E. Pratt was united in marriage to Annette M. Martina in 1969. Surviving are his wife, Annette; two sons, Michael (Patricia) Pratt, Douglas (Tracey Barnett) Pratt; grandchildren, Jacob, Anthony (Alexis), Isabel, Alexander, Megan, Abigail, Brianna; a great-granddaughter, Emmerson and several cousins. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.

More than anything Jerry loved his family. He and Annette were married for 55 years after a whirlwind courtship. Although they were in different states, Jerry called her every single night for an entire summer and created some amazing phone bills. After their marriage, they lived for a short time in Bellevue and then built their home in Battle Creek. Jerry spent his days in retirement building the landscape around it. More than anything, Jerry loved his family. He never missed a school activity or sporting event that involved his sons or grandchildren. Grandpa and his made-up songs will be dearly missed by his grandchildren. He taught us all the meaning of family and how to love.

At Jerry’s request, there will be no visitation. Military honors and committal services will be held privately at Fort Custer National Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care. Personal messages for the family may be placed here at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
