Jerry L. Wilson

Jerry L. Wilson, age 80, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 12, 2022. He was born in Battle Creek on August 25, 1941, the son of Gail and Leo (Ovenshire) Wilson and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1959. Jerry furthered his education at Kellogg Community College, and received a BA from Western Michigan University. He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force Reserves and retired from the Kellogg Company in 1998 after more than 38 years as a chemist. After retirement, Jerry worked at JC Penney and Viewpoint Mobility for several years.

Jerry married Donna M. (Corwin) Wilson in Winter Park, Florida on December 24, 1992; she sadly preceded him in death on September 4, 2013. He is survived by his children, Marcal (Jim) Probst of Indiana and Todd (Kathy) Wilson of Battle Creek; step-son, John C. Rees of Virginia; his grandchildren, Dakota Wilson, Kaila Probst, Laiken Probst, Kourtney McGuire, Travis McGuire, Drew Rees, and John Rees, Jr.; and his great-grandson, Spensir McGuire. Jerry was also preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Robert & LaVerne Wilson.

Jerry was a member of the Kellogg 25-Year Club, and in his younger years, was a Boy Scout, Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. Jerry coached Todd & Marcal's baseball and softball teams when they were growing up, and he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and NASCAR. He was very "Thrifty" and had a great love for dogs, especially his Shih-Tzu's.

The family will receive friends 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 18th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where funeral services to celebrate Jerry's life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, with Chaplain Tim Smothers, officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility.
