Jimmie Davis Collins of Battle Creek, MI

Jimmie, age 70, died Saturday evening, April 8, 2017 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital with his loving family at his side.

Jimmie, the son of James Henry and Maud Mary (Hicks) Collins, was born in Dayton, TN on December 11, 1946; moved to his area at the age of 3 and was a 1965 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. He was a life long Printer and was employed by PM Systems of Battle Creek for many years until they went out of business. Jimmie was the consummate "Family Man." Everything revolved around his entire family especially assisting with "handiwork." He even renovated his own home - Twice!

Jimmie was united in marriage to the former, Sandra Lee Parks in Battle Creek on March 3, 1967. Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Sandy; two sons, Jimmie D. Collins, Jr. of Battle Creek and Shaun P. (Lisa) Collins of Muskegon; two precious grandchildren, Jessie D. Collins and Sarah Collins; four sisters, Hazel Collins, Reba Panczyke, Nancy (Mike) White and Rosemary Collins, all of Battle Creek and his brother, Carl (Betty) Collins of Battle Creek. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; his 14 year-old daughter, Teresa Jane on May 3, 1982 and a sister, Betty Scroggins.

Jimmie's family will greet friends on Wednesday, April 12th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. The Graveside Service to celebrate Jimmie's life will be held on Friday, April 14th at 1:00 p.m. at Hicks Cemetery, Pennfield Township with his son, Shaun, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jimmie's honor may be directed to the Make-A Wish Foundation, 7600 Grand River Avenue, Suite 175, Brighton, MI 48114.
