Jimmie Wayne Essary

June 2, 1945 — February 8, 2020

Jimmie Wayne Essary, age 74, of Springfield passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, February 8, 2020. He was born in Lepanto, Arkansas on June 2, 1945 the son of Reba and Bonnie (Gatlin) Essary and faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Jimmie is survived by his daughters, Jamie (Bobby) Sims and Tricia (Ryan) Vogt, both of Battle Creek; five grandchildren, Bobby Sims II, Anthony Sims, Evan Colter, Vanessa Sims, and Ryan Vogt Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Elliott Vogt, Amelia Snyder; and a sister, Glenda Sue (Glen) Spears. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers & sisters.

Jimmie enjoyed fishing, watching football & basketball, was an avid U of M and Detroit Lions fan, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Committal services with military honors will be held 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 14, 2020 at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations your favorite charity.
