Joan Beverly (Rogers) Francisco of Richland, MI
Joan, age 92, died Thursday evening, April 2, 2015 at her daughter, Judith Henley's residence and following a long illness.
Joan, the daughter of Henry M. and Alice R. (Hughes) Rogers, was born in Orangeville Township, Barry County, MI on September 16, 1922; resided in Barry County, Mi, Southern California, and Southern Nevada from 1987 until 2007. She was a 1939 graduate of Delton (MI) High School; Western Michigan University with Bachelor of Education Degree and did graduate work in Speech Therapy, California State University Los Angeles. Joan had been an Elementary School Teacher in the Delton School System until 1950 and a teacher and speech therapist in Covina, CA from 1952 until 1969. After retirement, Ken and Joan traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico in their motorhome. She was a voracious reader and even-up to her death using an I-Pad she had mastered in her 80's.
Joan was united in marriage to Kenneth D. Francisco on September 15, 1944 in Kalamazoo, MI and he sadly preceded her in death on June 23, 2007 after over 63 years of marriage. Surviving are her two daughters, Judith F. Henley of Richland and Mary Jo (James) Rausch of Pittsburgh, PA; five grandchildren, Hutson Tapp of East Lansing, MI, Rebecca (Brian) O'Connell of Williamston, MI, Katherine Henley of Mason, MI, Robert (Ellis) Rausch of Minneapolis, MN and Kristin (Garrick) Hagins of Pittsburgh, PA and by seven great grandchildren, Julia, Adrienne and Adam Hagins, Hollis and Delphine Rausch, Eryn and Quinn O'Connell. Joan was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jean Johnson
The Graveside Service to celebrate Joan's life will be held on Saturday, April 11th at 3:00 p.m. in the Prairieville (Township) Cemetery, north of Delton, MI. There will be no visitation. The Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Richland Chapel (269-629-6022) is in charge of the arrangements.
