Joan M. "Joanie" Goodale

Joan M. “Joanie” (Armstrong) Goodale, 79, of Battle Creek, Michigan died peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at the Suji Home in Marshall after a brief stay in the hospital.

 Joanie was born February 20, 1945, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of Ted and Jeanne (Hammond) Armstrong. She was raised in Battle Creek and was a 1963 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Joanie began her 30+ year career employed as a Clerk for 12 years with the District Court System, an Executive Assistant with local attorneys, and as an Enforcement Assistant with Friend of the Court (FOC) for 18 years, until retiring.

 Surviving are her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Carlos Ramsey of Battle Creek; nieces, Kim, Karla, and Maeve, nephew, Joshua McCafferty of Traverse City; and longtime neighbor, Sherral Scott. Joanie was preceded in death by her parents.

 Joanie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was also a member of U.A.W. Local 1294. She loved all animals, especially her dog, Siri. Her favorite pastimes were taking her annual trip with sister Joyce to Lake Michigan, flower gardening, sipping iced tea and spending time with family and friends. Joanie will be remembered for her advocacy for children through her position with FOC, her community spirit as a regular election volunteer, and her boisterous personality at U.A.W. functions.

Joanie’s life will be celebrated and honored with a family gathering and meal.
