Joan Jacquelyn (Dipzinski) Jones, 90, formerly of Battle Creek died peacefully at her home in Hastings with her family at her side on Sunday, April 28, 2024.
Joan was born December 21, 1933, in Flint, Michigan to Raymond and Stella M (Gorecki) Dipzinski. Joan grew up in Gaylord and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Gaylord, MI in 1951. Joan was employed at the Post Cereal Division of General Foods, testing foods for safety and flavor for 43 years, retiring in 2001.
Joan Jacquelyn Dipzinski was married to Leon “Lonnie” Jones on January 24, 1953, in Battle Creek, MI. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie on November 15, 1991. Surviving are a son, Michael L. (Linda) Jones of Washington State; daughter, Jacquelyn J. (Bill) Madden of Hastings, MI; grandchildren, Heather (Rich) Dubay of Anderson, SC, Holli (Stephen Linton) Jones of Longmont, CO, Kris (Jess) Jones of Spring Lake, MI, Crystal (Andrew) Maitland of Hastings, Miranda Jones of Atlanta, GA, Lonnie (Sandy) Madden of Hastings, MI ; step-grandchildren Denise (Jeff) Hall Hastings, MI, Craig (Jenny) Madden Hastings, MI ; great-grandchildren, Brittani Madden, Trae Dubay, Sadie Maitland, Brea (Noah) Dunn, Joe Maitland, Aiden Dubay, Jordan and Blake Madden, Hazel Jones, Charlotte Jones, Lina Linton, Zeke Jones, Kayla Linton, Theo Linton, Maylie Madden; a brother, Larry (Noreen) Dipzinski; a sister, Sally (Claude) Huff and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. In addition to her husband, Joan was also preceded in death by a sister, Gloria (Junior) Moorhead, three brothers, Ronnie (Noreen) Dipzinski, Pat (Mary) Dipzinski and Jimmy Dipzinski and step-grandson, Billy Madden.
During her years with Post as products were developed and needed testing, Joan used that opportunity to let her grandchildren be first on the list. Bringing home all the left-over tested products for them to enjoy. She loved taking care of people, especially children. She could never say no to her grandchildren. After her retirement in 2001 she would assist in the upbringing of her great-grandchildren Sadie and Joe Maitland. Building a very special friendship with them. Joan loved shopping at her favorite shopping center. She was a collector of many things, especially chickens. Joan enjoyed the flowers and being outdoors. She was strong-willed and was not one to give up.
Friends will be received 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2024, at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, where funeral service will be officiated by her grandchildren Kris Jones and Holli Linton at 2 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2024. The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed at https://vimeo.com/event/4271984 . Committal and entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
