Joan Harriette (Fulton) Leonard of Battle Creek, MI

Joan, age 86, died Sunday afternoon, January 28, 2018 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Joan, the daughter of Harry and Florence (Hanlan) Fulton, was born in Detroit, MI on July 2, 1931; was a 1949 graduate of Miss Newman's School for Girls High School of Detroit and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Wayne University in 1953. She did genealogy for family and friends; enjoyed gardening and wildlife in general, especially on their 2-acre homestead in Pennfield Township.

Joan was united in marriage to Norman H. Leonard, D.O. in Detroit, MI on September 4, 1954. Surviving is her husband of almost 64 years, Norm; her son, Bruce A. Leonard, D.D.S. of Battle Creek; step-sister, Joan Newbould of Roseville, CA; step-brother, Donald (Marge) Aldred of Seffner, FL and her constant companion, Rusty the Cat. Joan was preceded in death by her parents.

The Memorial Gathering to celebrate Joan's life will be held on Wednesday, April 11th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joan's honor may be directed to Polio Plus, c/o Gull Lake Area Rotary Club, P.O, Box 291, Richland, MI 49083 or the American Lung Association.
