JoAnn (Alvis) Boyer of Kalamazoo, MI
JoAnn was born in Princeton, IN to Fred and Opal (Moffitt) Alvis on October 8, 1932. She enjoyed her life as a military wife and mother traveling the world, spending time with family, reading and gardening.
On August 5, 1950 in Princeton, IN JoAnn was united in marriage to John Thomas Jr. Boyer and preceded her in death on February 26, 2001. JoAnn is survived by her two children and their spouses; Deborah and Douglas Bogema of Richland and Mark and Susan Boyer of Kalamazoo; her grandchildren, Kimberly Bogema, Kelley (Bogema) (Brady) Peterson, Bambi Boyer, John (Meghan) Boyer, Amber Boyer and her great grandchildren Makenzie and Ashlyn Peterson and Evan and Carter Boyer and Tyaira Hinley. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Karen (Boyer) Miller and her brother Fred Alvis.
A Private, Graveside Service to celebrate JoAnn's life will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Ml. Her family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Bickford Cottage of Portage, 4707 W. Milham Road, Portage, MI 49024 or The Alzheimer Association, 350 E. Michigan Avenue, Suite 20, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. The Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Richland Chapel (269-629-6022) is in charge of all the arrangements.
