Joanne E. Fales

Joanne E. Fales, age 90, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 6, 2021. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 4, 1931, the loving daughter of Joseph T. and Cleo B. (Evens) Amann. Joanne graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and Western Michigan University. She retired in 1993 after more than 30 years as an Elementary School teacher in St. Joseph, Grand Rapids, and Bellevue, Michigan.

Joanne married Donald L. Fales in Battle Creek on November 24, 1956; he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Brenda Lancaster. She is survived by three sisters, Helen Lancaster of Kalamazoo, Wanda Babcock of Portage, and Karen (Tom) Kohlbrandt of Indiana; six nieces & nephews; 10 great-nieces & nephews, and three great-great nieces & nephews.

Joanne was a member of Central Christian Church, the Battle Creek Christian Singles fellowship group, the Alpha Beta Epsilon Sorority, and was a board member with the Women's League. She also volunteered many hours with the Food Pantry, the Franklin School "GrandFriends" program and Bibles for Missions.

The family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Saturday, June 12th at Central Christian Church 713 Riverside Drive, Battle Creek where services to celebrate Joanne's life will begin at 12:00 noon, Saturday. Memorials may be directed to the Central Christian Church, Hospice Care of South West Michigan and/or NorthPointe Woods Assisted Living.
