John P. Bogosoff, 87, of Battle Creek, died peacefully on December 28, 2015 at the Bronson Hospice Residence. He was a much-beloved son, brother, and uncle to a large extended family, of which he long served as the patriarch.
Born on October 2, 1928 in Painesdale, MI to Michael & Mary (Cernich) Bogosoff. John graduated in 1947 from Houghton High School and in 1952 from Michigan Tech. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1955. He began a 34 year career with General Motors, retiring in 1989 as Senior Project Engineer in charge of the fastener division at Oldsmobile in Lansing.
John was a parishioner at St. Philip Catholic Church for over 65 years and sang in the choir. He also enjoyed singing with the Burnham Brook Singers.
John is survived by his sisters, Beverly Behrndt of Battle Creek, Sr. Mary Ann of Tucson, AZ, Catherine Bogosoff of Palm City, FL, Barbara Kowalski of Bellevue, and Patricia (Butch) Perry of Battle Creek; 12 nieces and 5 nephews; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Beatrice Read, in 1998.
Friends will be received 6:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. January 1, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church by Fr. John D. Fleckenstein 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
