John H. Hallaxs

John H. Hallaxs, 75, of Battle Creek, died Wednesday, August 8, 2018 with his family by his side. John was born September 27, 1942 in Battle Creek to Benjamin and Laura (McCandless) Hallaxs. He graduated from Pennfield High School and enrolled in the U.S. Air Force. On June 14, 1963, John married the former Catherine Ridley in New Mexico. The couple enjoyed 55 years of marriage. John retired in 2005 from Semco Energy & Gas.

John is a member of Baseline United Methodist Church and its Men's Group. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and football and spent a lot of time volunteering at the Food Bank. Above all, John loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife, Catherine; a daughter, Holly Munsch; two grandchildren, Layne and James Munsch; a twin brother, Larry Hallaxs; a sister, Barbara (Lee) Crispin and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service to celebrate John's life will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, August 13, 2018 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Tim Smothers.
