John T. Hudson, 88, of Battle Creek, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He was born March 29, 1925 in Lexington, Mississippi to Limmie and Nora (Washington) Hudson. He grew up in Lexington and New York and then joined the U.S. Navy at a young age and served in WWII. He was employed as a mover and truck driver for over 25 years by Moore's Moving in Chicago, IL. John enjoyed traveling and visited every state in the Continental United States except Vermont and Montana. He enjoyed playing the lottery and loved animals, especially cats and feeding the ducks. He had the gift of gab, enjoyed people and told great stories about animals, traveling, government espionage and exaggerated personal events of life.
Surviving are his daughter, Sonya (Robert) Larry of Chicago, IL; six grandchildren; a sister, Dolores (Manuel) Thomas of Oak Ridge, TN; two brothers, Darnell (Jenny) Hudson of Springfield, IL, David Hudson of East Orange, NJ and numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda.
Visitation will be held 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. A procession to Ft. Custer National Cemetery will leave the funeral home at 12: 38 p.m. Funeral services and military honors will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013.
