John Misner

John Edward Misner, age 76, passed away in his home in Schaumburg, IL on October 18, 2023.  He was born to Donald and Wilda (Salter) Misner in Battle Creek, Michigan on March 18, 1947.  John grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek Central in 1965, where he was active in varsity basketball, tennis and was the Senior Class President.  He served 4 years in the US Air Force as an air traffic controller, which included a tour in Vietnam in 1969.  He went on to become an air traffic controller at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, from where he retired after 50 years of service.

John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn (Barlow) Misner; a son, Brandon Misner of Munich, Germany; a daughter, Caroline Misner (Jon) Finkl; a granddaughter; a sister, Ann Wheeler of Battle Creek and many extended family members and friends.
