In Loving Memory of John Edward "Johnny" Rickard

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of John Edward "Johnny" Rickard, aged 52, formerly of Benton, Arkansas, on January 13, 2024, in Battle Creek, Michigan, where he had recently made his new home.

Johnny was preceded in death by his cherished grandparents, Zollie and Rosa Lee Rickard of Paron, Arkansas, and J. H. Holiman and Willene Prickett of Benton, Arkansas.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Melissa (Obst) Rickard, his father, John H. Rickard of Benton, Arkansas, his mother, Brenda Blaylock, and brother, Matt Blaylock, both of Paron, Arkansas. Johnny is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and a vast network of relatives and friends and framily in Saline County, Arkansas, Michigan, Ohio and throughout the world. His beloved dogs, Kisses, Waylon, and the late Zack, were not just pets but cherished companions who shared in his life's journey.

Johnny will be remembered as a kind, generous and loving man who dedicated himself to the happiness of his wife and those around him. A true gentleman in every sense, his thoughts, words, and deeds reflected the warmth of his heart.

Professionally, Johnny was an HVAC Mechanic and plumber's assistant, showcasing his skill and dedication in his trade. He found joy in fishing, bonding over bonfires, and simply relaxing with his wife and furry friends. Despite his brief time in Michigan, Johnny developed a deep appreciation for the state's natural beauty. He was not only a wonderful Christmas performer but also took pride in being a member of the Michigan Association of Professional Santas.

Johnny's absence will be profoundly felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to the genuine warmth and compassionate care of Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home of Battle Creek.  Multiple Memorial services to celebrate Johnny's life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in his honor to be made to your local animal shelter, reflecting Johnny's compassion for animals and his commitment to making a positive impact on the world around him.
