John E. Wickstrom, age 56, of Battle Creek, lost his battle with cancer on June 5, 2020 at home surrounded by family.
John was born July 1, 1963 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of John Einar Wickstrom and Dorothy (Ellis, Wickstrom) Sloan. He graduated from Pennfield High School in 1981 and the Eaton Roadranger Training Institute in 1992. John held several positions with Brinks Security and other companies before driving truck locally and over the road, his career passion. He later was honored with Knighthood in the order Soldiers of Christ, KT.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Sloan of Battle Creek; his daughters, Amanda Wickstrom and Amber Wickstrom; his grandson, Connor Hastings of Alabama; his siblings, Detra A. (Bobby) Wilkerson, Tannya L. Wickstrom of Battle Creek, Nanalie M. (Jon) DePew, Richard D. (Karen) Sloan of Florida, and Raymond D. Sloan of California.
A memorial service by invitation only will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, June 12th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek with Rev. James L. Sparks, officiating. The family has requested a limited attended service due to social distancing policies. However, a live viewing of the service can be seen at https://vimeo.com/427082707/fef1e23ef1. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held after the service at 4:00 p.m. at Bailey Park, food will be provided, all are invited to attend.
