Johnny Lee Prentice, 70, of Battle Creek, died Thursday, July 3, 2025. Johnny was born September 4, 1954 in Battle Creek to Lenwood and Ida (Young) Prentice. He was raised in Battle Creek and attended Pennfield schools. Johnny always had a very strong work ethic. Over the years, he worked at United Steel and Wire, Battle Creek Wire and most recently, Tenneco.
Johnny enjoyed being outdoors and in nature, especially fishing. He was also a car enthusiast. He rode motorcycles, dune buggies, mud trucks and raced cars.
Johnny married the former Elizabeth Goodwin, who survives. He is also survived by his sons, Johnny Prentice and Jamie Prentice; two sisters, Lola Hedges and Elverta McComb and stepchildren, grandchildren, special people and true friends. Johnny was a devoted husband, father, papa and friend.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Nino.
A memorial service to celebrate Johnny’s life will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 11, 2025 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, starting at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Hicks Cemetery, Pennfield Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oaklawn Hospice. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
