Jonathan M. Galbreath

November 15, 1977 — December 23, 2021

Jonathan M. Galbreath, 44, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away December 23, 2021, after a valiant fight against bladder cancer, surrounded by his family at home.

Jon was born November 15, 1977, to Kenneth Galbreath and Betty "Renee" Rodal. Jon graduated from Sheridan Vocational Technical Center High School in 1996 with a certificate in Mechanical Drafting. He was employed by Medtronic, Inc., in Hollywood FL, before relocating back to Michigan. He received his Emergency Medical Technician Certificate from KVCC and was employed as a Critical Care Paramedic and Supervisor by Life EMS and Marshall Area Firefighting Ambulance Authority. Jon received his Computer Sciences degree from KCC and was employed by CRT in Battle Creek, and Cornerstone Technologies in Kalamazoo, before starting his own company, Jonic IT, LLC, just prior to his cancer diagnosis.

In March 2020, as the world was shutting down due to Covid-19, Jon was a co-creator of Eats BC, a food delivery service that helped local restaurants survive and thrive during restaurant shutdowns. Jon loved giving back to the community and was active in the Rotary of Battle Creek, Masonic Lodge #100, Cub Scout Pack Leader #325, Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools Advisory Board, BNI (VP), and Dad's Club of BCACS. He was baptized at St. Philip Church in 2019 and enjoyed both St. Philip and St. Joseph churches.

Most important to Jon was his family. He loved spending every moment he could with his wife and son and enjoyed time at the family condo in South Haven. He will be remembered as kind, hardworking, honest, and loving to all who befriended him. He will also be remembered for his love of Star Wars, DC, and Marvel Comics.

Jon will be forever missed by his best friend and wife, Tracie L. Tomak, and their son, Nicholas L. Galbreath. Jon is also survived by his parents, mother-in-law Connie L. Tomak, sister-in-law Tammie Tomak, nieces Ashley Tomak and Kristin Williams, nephew Thomas Jonathan Likens, and sisters Sherrie Likens and Michelle Galbreath. Jon leaves behind many wonderful friends.

The family will receive friends 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where a time of sharing will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the Parish Rosary will follow immediately after. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calhoun County Animal Center, the Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools Foundation, or any other charitable organization, per Jon's request.
