Joseph O. Bach, Jr., 92, of Burlington, formerly of Eustis, FL., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Bronson At Home Hospice Residence. He was born May 4, 1924, the son of Mary (Brown) and Joseph Bach, Sr.

Joseph was married to Jeanie Waite on September 24, 1946. They were married 65 years.

Joseph graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing, MI. He was all state in football for three years. He turned down football scholarships from Michigan State and Western Michigan Universities to serve our country in WWII in the U.S. Navy. He served in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asiatic-Pacific and the United States. Joseph was honorably discharged on March 12, 1946 as Seaman First Class.

Upon discharge from the Navy, he joined Grand Trunk Western Railroad. Joseph was an engineer with Grand Trunk and retired in 1986 after 40 years of service. Joseph and Jeannie moved to Eustis, FL shortly after Joseph's retirement.

In Florida, Joseph loved playing senior softball and was manager of the team for 18 years. His team won the Senior World Series Softball Championship three years in a row.

Joseph was an avid fisherman and hunter all his life. He hunted and fished out west, Nova Scotia and Canada with his best friend, Gordon Martin.

Joseph is survived by his granddaughter, Kelly Myers; nephew, Michael (Nancy) Waite, who he resided with in Burlington; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeannie in 2011; his daughter, Patricia Parker in 2013 and his son, Robert Keagle in 1996.

Per Joseph's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
