Joseph Paul “Joe” Carpenter, 75, of Battle Creek passed away Monday, April 28, 2025.

Joe was born December 10, 1949, the son of Jack Pershing and Addie Leona (Tobias) Carpenter. He was a graduate of Harper Creek High School. He worked for the Grand Trunk Railroad for many years in different capacities. Joe was an extremely talented tattoo artist and illustrated children’s books. He enjoyed painting and airbrushing. He liked classic cars and motorcycles. He also loved collecting and shopping for antiques.

Joe is survived by his daughters, Felicia (Brayden) Howe and Melissa Suggs; brother Jack (Brenda) Carpenter; grandchildren, Danielle Cable, Gabby Suggs, Telle Suggs, Morgan Haley, Elijah Barnheart, Isaac Riley, Kaylee Mason, Tayson Shelley, Kambree Howe, Kyra Howe, Bentley Howe and great-grandchildren, Ash Byrd, Cheyenne Byrd and Dominic Byrd. He was preceded in death by his mother Addie Carpenter, sister Phyllis Clevenger and brother Jimmy Carpenter.
