Joseph "Joe" G. Kaywood of Heyworth, IL
Joe, age 49, died unexpectedly, Friday, March 23, 2018 at Advocate Bro-Menn Medical Center of Normal, IL.
Joe, the son of Joseph L. and S. Ann (Lumie) Kaywood, was born on September 30, 1968 in Kalamazoo, MI. Joe graduated in 1992 from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Computer Science. Before moving to Bloomington, IL, Joe worked at H.H. Cutler Company and Keystone Systems in Michigan. In 1997, a job at State Farm Insurance Company moved Joe to Bloomington, where he met the love of his life, Michelle A. Shelton. He was employed at State Farm Insurance Company in Bloomington for 21 years, first in systems, and later as an information security analyst.
Joe was an avid Detroit Red Wings fan and he enjoyed attending the local music scenes in Bloomington and Kalamazoo. He was a Jimmy Buffet fan and was a member and former officer of the Central Illinois Parrothead Club, where he assisted in charity fundraisers. Joe also enjoyed volunteering at local air shows in both Bloomington and Peoria and vacationing in Key West, FL with his wife and friends. The family will like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and staff of Advocate Bro-Menn ICU department. Joe will be fondly remembered as a good friend, a loving husband and a devoted father.
Joe was united in a marriage to Michelle on September 11, 2004 in Bloomington, IL. Surviving are his wife, Michelle; one son, Cruz J. Kaywood (3), at home; his parents, Joe and Ann Kaywood of Richland, MI; two brothers, Todd L. (Jennifer) Kaywood of Fort Collins, CO and Andrew M. Kaywood. Also surviving are one niece and three nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 9th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta, MI 49012, with Father Francis A. Marroti, Celebrant and Deacon Michael A. Carl, Assisting. Joe's family will greet friends immediately following the Mass in the Church Social Hall, where a luncheon will be provided. Private, family interment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery, Richland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joe's honor may be directed to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Ann Catholic Church (See Address Above) or the Cruz J.
