Joseph "Joe" Richard Spahr Jr.

Joseph “Joe” Richard Spahr, Jr., age 85 of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 8, 1940, the son of Joseph and Martha (Fisher) Spahr Sr. Joe graduated from Central Catholic High School and furthered his education at Penn State University. He faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army and retired from the General Motors Corporation after more than 42 years.

Joe married the “Love of His Life”, Constance “Connie” Spahr in Pittsburgh, PA on October 24, 1964. He is survived by his wife of more than 61 years, Connie; his children, Heather (Charles) Genoe and Darren (Kellee) Spahr; his grandchildren, Sierra Spahr, Brayden Measel and Jordyn Genoe; a brother, Bill (Candy) Spahr; sisters, Martha Coleman, Lori Gerard and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his uncle & best man at their wedding, William “Uncle Bill” Spahr.

Graveside services with military honors to celebrate Joe’s life will be held 12:00 noon Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, 3941 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008. In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to the charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
