Joyce A. Bottom, 55, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Bronson Battle Creek, surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born September 1, 1959 in Battle Creek to William and Lillian (Burns) Bottom. Joyce was an employee at the old Dairy Queen across from McCamly Park and cheered up everyone who ate there.
Joyce loved to spend time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed mailing cards to them for special occasions. She learned that family was everything after a tragic motorcycle accident at the age of 17 left her in a coma for 9 months.
Joyce is survived by her mother, Lillian Bottom; a son, Shaun Bottom; her sisters, Bonnie (John) Kilgore, Barbara (Jerry) Wofford, Blanche (Jack) Winters, Florenda (Kay) Uselton, Tami (Tim) Collige and Tonya Fields, four grandchildren; a brother, William (Keith) Bottom and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her father; a sister, Lanetta (Kathy) Cochran; a son, Kevin (Charles) Bottom and a brother, William C. Bottom.
Visitation will be Friday, September 5, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where funeral services to celebrate Joyce's life will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 6. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the American Cancer Society.
