Joyce B. Shafer

Joyce B. Shafer, 92, of Augusta, died April 24, 2026. Joyce was born July 20, 1933 in Hastings to Edward and LoWave (Marshall) Bailey. She graduated high school and married Bill Shafer on September 27, 1952.

Joyce is survived by her two daughters, Valerie (Jerry) Daniels and Sheila Garrett; 6 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson and a sister, Maxine Garrett. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 2012.

A memorial service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held privately at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel. Joyce will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bill at Fort Custer National Cemetery. A public celebration of Joyce’s life will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Augusta Fellowship United Methodist Church. All are welcome to attend.
