Joyce Weaver Wentworth, Battle Creek & Montague, MI passed away on February 20, 2022.
Born in Detroit, MI on April 11, 1929 to Charles C. and Frances Wilson Weaver, both of whom preceded her in death.
She graduated from Wheatland High School in Wheatland, IN in 1946. After attending Purdue University for one year, she entered Indiana University and graduated in 1950 with a B.S. degree in Business. She was a charter member of Beta Delta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta. Following graduation, she entered a one-year management training program at the Hotel Statler in Cleveland, Ohio
On May 6, 1951, she married Richard Harlan Wentworth Jr. in Wheatland, Indiana. Richard preceded her in death on June 26, 2005.
Joyce was Director of Quality Assurance for Bill Knapp's restaurants for 28 years and retired in 1991.
She was a long-term member of Church of the Resurrection, served on the vestry and worked at the church resale shop. Other activities included tutoring for the Host program and helping at NorthPointe Woods, as well as the Climate Change Coalition of Battle Creek Community Foundation. She belonged to Chapter CA of P.E.O. She enjoyed bridge, reading and her book clubs, gardening at her home in Montague, MI and spending time with her friends & family.
Survivors include three sons, Richard H. Wentworth III (Myra) of Powell, OH, Dr. C. William Wentworth (Marcia) of Battle Creek and Mark S. Wentworth (Christine) of Battle Creek; grandchildren Michael, Stephanie (Andrew), Grace, Jack, Lucy and Henry as well as great-grandchildren Ella and Elijah.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 2:00 pm located at Church of the Resurrection, 2589 Capital Avenue S.W., Battle Creek, MI 49015. Cards and flowers can be sent to Mark Wentworth, 119 Barrington Circle, Battle Creek, MI 49015.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Church of the Resurrection, or to the P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund; envelopes will be available at the funeral service.
