Battle Creek

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Nita Beauregard, age 84, of Battle Creek, who passed from this life in the early morning of June 22, 2026.

Nita was born in Kinawahan, Cebu, in the Philippines, to Pedro Tunaco and Dimitria Quiempo Devalos and grew up as one of 28 siblings. Proud of her Philippine heritage, she carried with her a deep love of family and resilience throughout her life.

At age 24, Nita met, fell in love with, and married Tom Beauregard, then serving as a Marine. Their marriage was one of the great loves of her life, and together they built a life rooted in devotion, beauty, and family. When she came to America, she became part of her new Michigan family which included Tom’s brothers, sisters, and her in-laws, Harold and Irene Beauregard. Family meant everything to Nita—both her Philippine family and community, and the American family she embraced and loved as her own, as they did her.

After initially discovering her love for cosmetology in the Philippines, Nita was able to open her own salon. Between her amazingly detailed nail designs and her exceptionally joyful spirit, she quickly became a well-known and beloved beautician in the Battle Creek community.

Nita lived her life with a positive attitude, appreciation for unnoticed beauty, and kindness towards everyone she met. She did not just live in the world, she colored it. Where others saw clutter, she saw beauty, transforming discarded items into prized treasures. She had the gift of a green thumb and loved being surrounded by flowers, always wanting to share her knowledge with others. With hands that never stopped moving, she also had a great love of painting and a passion for capturing moments through taking photos.

She also had an adventurous spirit and was always ready to go anywhere. In her later years, Nita lived each day with a delightful but fierce determination, as if she wanted to gather in every ounce of life still available to her. She worked in her garden every minute she could, found delight in shopping trips and simple outings, and was always happy to tag along wherever someone would take her. She called friends and family for long conversations filled with laughter, connection, and love. And in the quiet moments with Tom, she was at peace. They cared for one another as they aged, often holding hands as they slept, a tender reflection of the devotion that had carried them through their life together.

Nita leaves behind her soul mate, Thomas; her daughter, Maria; and her grandchildren, Chad, Bridgette, and Deven. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Angie, Beth, Christina, Judy and Pat; her brothers, Richard, Don, Ken, Gary, Bob, and Eric; and many nieces and nephews, including Laurie, Era, Martin, Maria, and Cora, her steadfast companion, who grieves with us. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be held at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 105 Capital Ave NE, Battle Creek, MI 49017 on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 5:00-8:00pm with a rosary prayer at 7:30pm.
