Juanita V. Winer, age 98, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully at the Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis on Wednesday morning, November 28, 2018. She was born in Decatur, Indiana on May 5, 1920, the daughter of Russell and Viola (Ray) Bowman. Juanita worked at the Kirsch Co. and the Sturgis Journal in Sturgis, Michigan. She enjoyed sewing & crafts, shopping, playing the organ, square-dancing with Bob, and golfing (even claiming to have had a hole-in-one)!
Juanita married the "Love of Her Life", Robert G. "Bob" Winer in Indiana on May 31, 1941; he sadly preceded her in death on November 5, 2017. She is survived by two nephews, James (Sharon) Parker of Howe, Indiana and Joseph (Madeleine) Parker of Sturgis; six great-nieces, Shelly, Jan, Diane, Julie, Elizabeth, and Ann Jeanette; two great-nephews, Chris and Jerry; and her sister-in-law, Jeanne Winer of Battle Creek.
A memorial service to celebrate Juanita's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 27th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. Interment will be held privately at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorials directed to the Talons Out Honor Flight, P.O. Box 280 Portage, MI 49024.
