Judith Coomes

Judith K. Coomes, 72, of Springfield, died March 5, 2013. Judy was born December 6, 1940 in Kalamazoo to Faye and Margaret (Thomas) Cummings. She graduated high school and went on to work as a payroll clerk, most recently at TRMI, before her retirement in 2006. She enjoyed spending the summers at Sandy Pines Campground, but most of all, she loved her grandchildren.
On May 5, 1978, Judy married James Coomes in Battle Creek, who survives. Also surviving are her two children, Kelli (Michael) Pacuch and Kip Wofford; two step-children, Tim Coomes and Michelle Chantrenne; her grandchildren, Andrew Wofford, Jacob Wofford, Zach Pacuch and Alexis Pacuch; and two great-grandchildren, Jadelyn Wofford and Isaq Wofford.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Royal Mishall and a brother, Jon Cummins.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with the Parish Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Judy’s life will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, March 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, The Very Reverend Fr. Mark J. Vyverman, officiant. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the American Diabetes Association.
