Judy L. Johns

Judy Lynn (Gilson) Johns, 81, of The Villages, Florida died unexpectedly on October 17, 2026.

Judy was born to Jeane Gilson and Leona Deule on September 20, 1945, at the historic Leila Y. Post Montgomery Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan.

In 1963, she graduated from Harper Creek High School and then went on to receive an associate degree from Kellogg Community College.

On October 15, 1966, Judy took a husband, Larry D Beebe. They relocated to Alexandria, Virginia where Larry was serving his country. Together they started raising two boys, Daniel and Douglas. Tragically, Larry’s tour in Viet Nam ended in 1971.

Judy remarried in 1972 taking on the last name Johns.

She worked many years as a Payor for an insurance company until retirement. When Judy wasn’t working, she enjoyed spending time with her five grandkids, following college football, and attending high school reunions.

Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Larry D. Beebe, her parents, Jeane and Leona Gilson, and her son, Douglas D Johns.

Judy is survived by her sister, Kathy DeVault of The Villages, Florida, her son, Daniel D. Johns of Madison, Wisconsin, grandchildren; Sarah Johns of St. Louis, Missouri, Evan Johns and Madeline Johns of Madison, Wisconsin, and Brennan Johns and Skylar Johns of Scotts, Michigan.

A graveside service in celebration of Judy’s life will be held on Monday, November 2nd, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, 1490 East Michigan Ave, Battle Creek, Michigan 49014.
