Julia Bradford-Griffen

October 20, 1918 — January 13, 2014

Julia Bradford-Griffen, age 95, of McDonough, Georgia and formerly of Battle Creek, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 13, 2014. She was born in Hollandale, Mississippi on October 20, 1918, the loving daughter of Walter and Emma (Sapps) Lick.

In 1936, Julia married John Stricker Bradford, and they shared 57 wonderful years until he preceded her in death. She later married Helmer Griffen and they shared nine years together. Julia was also preceded in death by her only daughter, Delores Bradford Hayden. She is survived by her two sons, John Bradford of Corunna, Michigan and Reginald Bradford of Genesee, Michigan. She will also be loved and missed by her 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren.

During World War II, she became a "Rosie the Riveter" at Eaton Manufacturing. Later she worked at Ralston's for 10 years and retired from Kellogg's as a member of the 25 year club. Julia was an ordained minister and pastored her church, where she led numerous members to a personal relationship with Jesus as the Reverend Julia Bradford. Among the things she loved were gardening and sewing. Her passion was giving to others where she always donated her time, money and food to the church.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where funeral services to celebrate Julia's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to your favorite charity.
