Julia C. Garcia, age 89, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on July 22, 2022.
Julia married the "Love of Her Life", Gabino Garcia in Edcouch, Texas on July 25, 1948; he preceded her in death on January 22, 2017 after more than 68 years. This union was blessed with 10 surviving children, San Juana (Enrique)Rojas of Edcouch, TX; Armando (Maria de Jesus) Garcia of Battle Creek, Rosita Garcia of Battle Creek, Guadalupe (Lucy)Garcia of Battle Creek; Lusiano (Barbara) Garcia of La Porte, TX, Maria Garcia (Guadalupe Sepulveda) of Roscoe, TX, Julia (Arnulfo)Rodriguez of Edcouch, TX, Martin (Tracy) Garcia of Battle Creek, Oralia Garcia (Phillip Weems) of Battle Creek, and JoAnn Garcia of Battle Creek; 36 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren & 16 great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her grandsons, Ryan Perish-Garcia, Michael Barroso, her great-granddaughter, Lilliana Gwillim, great-grandson's Ezra J. Garcia & Silas A. Garcia, and her great-great-grandson, Julius I. Garza.
Julia was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting and singing, but most of all Julia Cid Garcia cared deeply for her family and all those who came to be like family. The small, seemingly insignificant toys left behind by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the photos of her precious family, the Virgen De Guadalupe, and Jesus Christ were proudly displayed on her small home altar, artifacts of her bountiful life and devotion to God.
Her home and kitchen were a place of comfort for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, a place where the heaviness of one's heart could be lightened, a place where there would always be food to nourish one's body and soul, a place where she stood ready to listen and serve because that was who she wasâ a woman who showed love by giving to those she loved. She served others with a humble heart and expected nothing in return. She will be deeply missed.
A visitation with the family is planned for 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 28th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 29th at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
