June G. Ludwig, 99, of Brutus, MI died at South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth, MA on February 6, 2013.
She was born June 4, 1913 in Detroit, MI to Robert E. and Anna Marie (Graalmann) Neumann. Mrs. Ludwig grew up in East Detroit and was a graduate of East Detroit High School, where she played basketball. She attended Madonna College. She assisted her husband in forming the Industrial Strainer Company of Plymouth, MI. She was employed as a secretary to Dr. Joseph E. Hawkins, Jr. at the Kresge Hearing Institute of the University of Michigan.
She married Lloyd S. Ludwig on May 27, 1937 in Detroit; MI. Mrs. Ludwig was preceded in death by her husband on December 9, 1998. Surviving are two daughters, Marilyn (John) Doty of Battle Creek, MI, Judith (William) Larson of Norwell, MA; a son, Dr. Gary (Constance) Ludwig of Neenah, WI; six grandchildren, Belinda (Dr. Brian) Hanna of Alpena, MI, Laura (Christina Mullins) of Cambridge, MA, Adam (Mary Alexandra) Doty of Evanston, IL, Gregory Larson of Smyrna, GA, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Larson of Scituate, MA and Dr. Sara (Dr. Manjot Bal) Ludwig of Dallas, TX; eight great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Lydia and Emeline Hanna, Lucia Doty Tonachel, Calvin and Gillian Doty, William and Ava Larson; sisters-in-law Arlene Neumann of Livonia, MI, and Nadine Ludwig of Birmingham, MI; and thirteen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother and a grandchild.
Mrs. Ludwig was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ann Arbor, MI. She and her husband strongly supported the education of her grandchildren. She enjoyed her family, travel, her Florida condo, her retirement home on Burt Lake and the doll house she built. She was an accomplished relief linoleum carver. She read her Bible and wrote in her journal each day.
Interment was at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkeley, MI on Thursday, February 14, 2013. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, 517 East Washington, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 at a later date.
