June Ann Squires, age 88, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully at her home on Friday afternoon, May 25, 2018. She was born in Battle Creek on March 17, 1930, the daughter of Jesse J. and T. Merle (Bradshaw) Eagles. June Ann graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1948 and furthered her education at Michigan State University and the Mullinex Business School. Over the years, June Ann worked at Michigan National Bank, BC Office Equipment, Officeway's, and retired from the Battle Creek McDonald's office.
June Ann married Lyle K. Squires in Battle Creek on November 9, 1952; he sadly preceded her in death on January 23, 2003. She is survived by her children, Dennis J. (Kimberly) Squires of Battle Creek, Lorie L. Harris of Battle Creek, and Julie M. (Mark) White of Traverse City; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and her brothers, Jack, Dan (Rosel) and Lynn (Nancy) Eagles. June Ann was also preceded in death by her daughter Betsy Ordway; her grandson, Scotty Harris, and her sister-in-law, Marguerite Eagles.
June Ann was of member of the First Congregational Church and the church sewing group. She dedicated many hours of service to the Leila (Battle Creek Health System & Bronson Battle Creek) Hospital Auxiliary, and also served on the Leila Follies Committee and volunteered at the Marian Burch Adult Day Care Center, and the Food Bank of South Central Michigan. A very dedicated and giving woman, June Ann sent thousands of cards for the Ladies Auxiliary, was very involved with the BCC Class of 1948 Reunion Committee, and created & updated the Marsh family tree for many years, as well as helping with many of the Marsh family reunions. June Ann enjoyed getting bargains at Meijer and Aldi, fishing and spending time at the lake with her family. She will always be remembered as very detail oriented, and was especially meticulous about "Making the Bed".
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 29th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Funeral services to celebrate June Ann's life will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 30th at the Family Bible Church 725 US Hwy 27 North, Marshall, where a light luncheon will follow the service. Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery. The family would like to thank Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan for their loving care and to the many dear friends who visited daily.
