Kalvin Kalkowski, 62, of Pine Lake, Plainwell, Michigan passed away August 22, 2022. Born March 6, 1960, in Sault St. Marie, Kalvin and his family moved to Hickory Corners where he attended Gull Lake Schools. Kalvin was an athlete and star basketball player. He loved to fish, golf, bowl and spend time on the lake, especially with his loving wife Kimberly, sister and brother-in law, Kim and Steve Meninga, his children, and grandchildren.
After high school, Kalvin attended Western Michigan University where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing and Engineering and a Master's Degree in Business Administration.
Kalvin met the love of his life Kimberly in 1991 and they were married June 26, 1993 in Battle Creek; they recently celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary together. Kalvin and Kimberly joined their families and Kalvin was a tireless provider for his family, working as an engineer at Aeromotive in Kalamazoo. He also worked at Blackmere Pump in Grand Rapids and Landscape Forms in Comstock, where he was a Director of Supply Chain. He finished out his career as the owner of Budget Blinds of Kalamazoo.
Outside of work, Kalvin was the go-to guy if anything was broken or needed built; he was the handyman everyone depended on. Summers were spent with family on Virginia Beach where Kal was the last one to gather up the chairs while watching the sunset. Kal looked forward to "getting the gopher" at Christmas, but he loved it more when someone else "got the gopher".
What we will miss most is Kalvin's kind, gentle and fun-loving spirit. He delighted in all of his children, especially his grandchildren.
Kalvin will always be dearly loved. Until we meet again, he will live on in the memories of his parents, Jerome and Phyllis Kalkowski, mother -in-law Jeanette Barnes, wife, Kimberly, siblings Kim (Steve) Meniga, Chris (Deb) Kalkowski, and Steve (Michelle) Kalkowski, brother-in-law Kevin (Melissa) Barnes, sister-in-law Cindy (Larry) Shone, Laurie McLean, Lisa (Bruno) Dubois, children Amanda (Josh) Curtis, Chad Kalkowski, Kaleb (Rachel) Speck, and Keegan Kalkowski as well as his grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Kalvin was active member of Radiant Church where he served on the welcome team and as a group leader.
A celebration of Kalvin's life will take place Friday, August 26, 2022 at 11:00 am at Radiant Church, Richland, followed by a luncheon. Memorials can be made to Kingdom Builders and Radiant Church.
