Karen Sue (McPeters) McDonald of Battle Creek, MI
Karen, age 64, died unexpectedly following hip surgery on Wednesday evening, March 6, 2019 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI.
Karen, the daughter of David R. and Marie L. (Dubbert) McPeters, was born in LaPorte, IN on April 16, 1954. She retired in 2011 after 24 years of faithful service in the Packaging Department of Kellogg Company in Battle Creek and Omaha, NE. She was a member of St. Philip Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling, cooking and reading murder mystery novels. Karen and her husband, Dan attended Classic Cars Shows displaying their 1953 Olds and winning numerous trophies for their car. She was a lifelong avid Lions and Tigers fan. Karen enjoyed collecting bells all over and attended over 200 concerts in her lifetime.
Karen was united in marriage to the "Love of her Life," in Battle Creek on April 29, 1988, having been together for over 41 years. Surviving is her husband, Dan; her son, Ben McPeters; her father, David McPeters and mother-in-law, Mary Medich; three sisters, Eloise McPeters, Darla M. McPeters and Nicole (Tony) Jones, all of Battle Creek; her brother, John "Oscar" McPeters of Battle Creek; a sister-in-law, Kathy McPeters and brother-in-law, Dave McDonald. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Becki (Jason) Haineault, Tira McPeters, Stacie Holton, Stephanie (Johnny) Vavra, Tiffany Buskirk, Kacee McPeters, Matthew McPeters, Phillip McPeters, David (Petie) McPeters, Anthony (Sheila) McPeters and John (Angie) Scholten, numerous great nieces and nephews and her longtime friend, Teresa Jordan. Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Marie; a brother, David "Pete" McPeters; her aunt, Sylvia Purtha; her uncle, Clem Purtha; sister-in-law, Teresa McPeters and a niece, Shaunie McPeters.
Karen's family will greet friends on Tuesday, March 12th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 13th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, 92 Capital Avenue, NW, Battle Creek 49017. Interment will follow Oak Hill Cemetery, Battle Creek. Family and friends will continue Karen's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon immediately following the committal service at St. Philip Parish Center.
