Kathy Alene Kowall

Kathy Alene Kowall, age 62, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 8, 2021. She was born November 15, 1958 in Battle Creek, Michigan. She was the third (and favorite) child born to Allen and June Nickerson. She graduated in 1976 from Plainwell High School.

In 1995 she married David Kowall, welcoming their daughter Melissa Kowall in 1996 and their son Nathan Kowall in 1998. Kathy was baptized in the Jordan River on a trip to Israel in 2015 and was a member of Northeastern Baptist Church.

Kathy loved to help others, devoting much of her time to charity work including Christian Neighbors and Plainwell Christmas Project. Kathy also loved to be outside with her flowers gardening, spending time with her dogs, traveling and spending quality time with family and friends throughout the USA. This last year she found such joy in her granddaughter Adeline and her son's recent engagement.

To know Kathy was to love her and she will be missed by many. Among those to cherish memories are her husband David Kowall, daughter Melissa Kowall (Dylon Darrow), son Nathan Kowall (Brooke Bilansky), mother June Nickerson, brother Mike Nickerson (Karmen), sister Kim Yager (Gary), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Allen Nickerson, her mother-in-law, Virginia Kowall and father-in-law, Eugene Kowall.

Cremation has taken place and a public visitation will be held at Northeastern Baptist Church, 6536 East G Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49048 at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021.
