October 22, 1957 — August 23, 2023

Battle Creek

Kathy Sue (Coger) Pierce, age 65 of Battle Creek, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 23, 2023. Kathy was born October 22, 1957 in Battle Creek, MI the daughter of Larry Lee Coger Sr. and Verna Marie Wood. She attended Penfield High School Class of 1975, then she went on to start a family and moved to Galesburg, MI where she became a manager for Jim's Auto gas station for several years. She moved back to Battle Creek in 1989 and she found her passion in nursing where she worked 18 years until she had to retire early from Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She married Nathaniel “Butch” Pierce August 24, 1994 where they made many memories and had many adventures over the last 30 years.

Kathy enjoyed spending her free time with family and friends, and spent as much time as she could in Alma, MI with her best friend and cousin (who she loved dearly) Klurenda Wood where she became hooked on diamond art. She loved several crafts including tie blankets, sewing, crocheting, and cross stitching. Kathy will be remembered by all of the beautiful arts and crafts she made for her family and friends. She loved doing her sudoku puzzles and playing her games on her tablet. If you knew Kathy, you knew she had a True Crime playing on her TV any chance she would get, and believed in the paranormal where she joked of haunting people who didn’t believe. She had a passion for collecting elephants and showed that throughout her home. Kathy enjoyed any time she got outside with her family and friends, but was most proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren as they were truly her greatest Joy. Kathy hated the water, but loved fishing and had started going on a boat fishing the last few years with her daughter and son-in-law Lisa (Johnny) Williams whom she resided with the last 5 1/2 years. She cherished her bond with her longest best friend of over 50 years, Gloria (Parker) Leffert, where they had so many laughs and stories when they got together.

Kathy is survived by her siblings, Larry (Gloria) Coger Jr., Michael Coger, Lori Zuniga and Salina Coger; her kids, Lisa (Johnny) Williams, Elizabeth (David) Neal, Travis (Susan) Pennock, and John (Rachel) Pennock; step daughters, Amanda Pierce and Krystle Pierce. Kathy was blessed with fourteen grandkids and six great-grandkids that she loved dearly. She had several cousins, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Her furbaby, Oliver AKA Little Brother and he was her snuggle bug as he followed her everywhere. She was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest grandson, Johnny Allen Wood II whom she has missed so very much and she couldn't wait for the day she would be reunited with him and her Lord and Savior after her time on earth was through. She now has him in her loving embrace as well as the rest of her loved ones celebrating as they are waiting for the rest of us to join them when it is our turn to come home.
