Keith Lynn Burkhead, 68 of Battle Creek, Michigan, died at Marshall Nursing & Rehabilitation Community Tuesday morning, January 10, 2023.
Keith was born May 5, 1954 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Laurence Allen and Ethel Jean (Martin) Burkhead.
Keith was a 1972 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and attended Michigan State University. Keith was employed by Marathon Oil Company, Clark Oil and Refinery Corporation; the United States Department of Agriculture by the Farm Service Agency; and the Office of the Chief Information Officer in Information Technology Services for the State of Michigan. He retired after 26 years.
Keith is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Gordon D. and Angie L. Burkhead of Battle Creek; his favorite niece, Lisa (Bill) Bolton; one great-niece, Nevaeh; two great-nephews, Jayden and Noah; and numerous cousins and their families. Keith was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel in 1993, his father, Laurence in 2002 and a brother, Norman in 1946.
Keith was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in East Lansing, Michigan, where he was active in the Episcopal Ministry at MSU; and the sign of the Covenant Metropolitan Community Church in Battle Creek. Keith worked on the Battle Creek Central High School 1972 Class Reunion Committee since graduation. His other interests included researching genealogy, working on computers, gardening and spending time with family. Keith will be remembered as outgoing, humorous, creative, artistic and a true friend.
Friends will be received 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care. A service to celebrate Keith's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2023, in the Chapel at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, 1490 E. Michigan Avenue, Battle Creek, MI 49014.
