Kevin was born December 27, 1948, in Kissimmee, Florida to William Morris and Alcenia Mae (Herron) Hale. He grew up moving with his family and was a 1967 graduate of Galesburg-Augusta High School. Kevin then honorably served four years with the U. S. Air Force. He used the GI bill to earn his bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Michigan State. Later in life he earned a graduate certificate in Hazardous Waste Control from Wayne State. Kevin’s career in engineering included a number of companies including Peter’s Construction in Kalamazoo, The City of Battle Creek, and Civil Engineers Inc in Battle Creek. He worked projects not only here in Michigan, but Jacksonville, FL, Savannah, GA, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, UAE, and Malaga, Spain.
Kevin was formerly married to Sharon Nichols. Kevin Eugene Hale was united in marriage to Cynthia Dian (Crane) Loss at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church on June 6, 1986. Surviving are his wife, Cindy; children, Brian (Rebecca) Hale of San Antonio, TX, Robert Hale, Jennifer (Paul) Reider, Kimberly (Jesse) Fleming, Lindsey (Miguel) Reyes of Saginaw, Jeffrey (Codi) Hale of Richland, several grandchildren; two sisters, Molly Champion of Lincoln City, OR, and Nellie Cichon of Gresham, OR. Kevin was a former member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where he was a Christian Education Director and helped set-up their first video system. He was a licensed United Methodist Minister and devoted himself to the missions in Haiti, Dominican Republic, Burundi, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Pakistan, and the Philippines. He helped rebuild two of the southern churches burned down in riots and demonstrations: Gay’s Hill Baptist in Millen, GA, and Avenue M Church of God in Christ in Birmingham, AL.
Kevin loved fast cars and enjoyed watching NASCAR and Formula One Racing. As a child, he was introduced to the Indianapolis Speedway and loved it his entire life. If he started a project, Kevin would always put his heart into it and made sure the project was completed properly. One of his proudest Battle Creek engineering projects was completion of the Emmett Street bridge. He enjoyed working in his yard. Kevin will be remembered for his heart for Christian service.
