Kevin Jon Swarms of Kalamazoo, MI and formerly of Hickory Corners, MI
Kevin, age 49, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 26, 2016.
Kevin, the son of Robert L. and Judith K. (Rabbitt) Swarms, was born in Lompoc, CA on November 15, 1966. He moved to Michigan with his family in 1977, and was a 1984 graduate of Gull Lake High School. He served his Country as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army, Fort Bragg, NC. Kevin's love for cars developed at a young age while working with his dad in the garage. He started as a self-employed mechanic and grew into an Auto Restoration Specialist. Kevin was a very active WPC (Walter P. Chrysler) car enthusiast and served on the National Board of the WPC Car Club. Kevin and his best friend, Richard Bowman of Kalamazoo, MI, attended MOPAR car shows, among others, from coast to coast over the last 18 years. Kevin was also a long time member of the Chrysler Club. Kevin was always able to make everyone he met smile. His door was always open and he helped anyone in need. He was a loving father, brother, son and friend.
Kevin is survived by his father, Robert Swarms of Hickory Corners; step-father, Gary Thevenot of Pana, IL; Amy Buskirk, the mother of his two youngest children and long time partner; his children, Katrina Swarms of Spokane, WA, Bryan Swarms of Arizona, Deanne Buskirk and Korina Swarms, both of Paw Paw, MI; his sisters, Michelle (Matt) Thomas of Fishers, IN, Angela (Scott) Emmons of Allegan, MI and Amy (Justin) Koehler of Galesburg, MI; his brothers, Rodney (Betsy) Swarms and David Swarms, both of Robbins, NC and Tim Swarms of Hickory Corners, MI, Garrett (Cheri) Thevenot of Pana, IL and Tony Thevenot of Pana, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Judith (Rabbit) Thevenot and his step-mother, Sandra K. (Pape) Swarms. Honorable family mention goes to Holly, Kevin's Jack Russell Terrier (Holly Jolly Bread N' Butter aka Hollywood) for her years of loyalty and companionship.
The Memorial Service to celebrate Kevin's life will be held Saturday, January 30th at 11:00 a.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89), with Rev.
