Kristin (Petro) Markillie

Kristin was a beautiful soul to everyone she met.  Kristin’s greatest joy came from connecting with others.  She loved to laugh and her laughter was heard throughout the home.  She found the goodness & beauty in people that others may not have seen, never judging anyone.  Kristin enjoyed the outdoors.  Camping, hiking and especially fishing were some of her favorites.  Kristin also had a love for animals and adopted many.  She and her husband would volunteer to walk with animals at the shelters just to be able to love on them for short periods.  Kristin was very creative!  She loved photography, writing and making scrap books with pictures of her family and friends.  

Kristin dedicated most of her career to being a caregiver, wearing many different hats in group homes and some of which she would work on the arts and crafts with the tenants to bring out their creative side as well, which she thoroughly enjoyed.  She loved caring and helping others who were less fortunate than herself.  She had a big heart and lots of love for her family, people and life itself.  She always shared her light and her beautiful smile with everyone she met.  She will be dearly missed.  

Kristin married Jeremi Markillie on August 10, 2021, who survives.  She is also survived by her mother, Missi (Brad) Youngblood; her father, Jon (Chris) Petro; a sister, Ashley (Jerry) Wyman and two brothers, Jonathan Petro and Nicholas Petro; many grandparents, cousins, nieces and nephews.  

A celebration of Kristin’s life will be 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon and lawn games to follow until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 27, 2023 at New Hope Church, 9300 E D Ave, Richland, MI 49083.  Anyone wanting to make a contribution in her honor may do so at any local humane society.  Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel.  Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
