Larry French, 83, of Augusta, died Friday, September 19, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Larry was born February 20, 1931 in Allegan, MI to Harold and Mable (Broughman) French. Larry graduated from Augusta High School in 1948 and went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Army. In 1952, Larry married the love of his life, Margaret Finkey. She sadly preceded him in death in 2010.
Larry worked for the Augusta Telephone Company for 40 years, working with his parents and then taking over as manager upon their retirement. After Larry's own retirement, he became a private contractor for several years. Keeping busy, Larry and his wife Margaret opened and operated Lar-Mar Ceramics for many years.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Sherri (Matthew) Storbeck; three sons Michael (Sue) French, Jeff French and Douglas French, and a grandson, Justin (Katie) Storbeck. Along with his wife Margaret, Larry was also preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the West Michigan Cancer Center.
