Larry Bert Stevens, II

Larry B. Stevens II, 52, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 5th, 2026 following heart failure.

Born on May 31st, 1974 the son of Larry B. and Linda Rose (Carpentier) Stevens. He grew up in Battle Creek and was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School class of 1993.

Larry was currently employed by Securitas, working at the Battle Creek Kellogg Plant. He was previously employed by Canteen Services and the former Palermo Ristorante where he worked for nearly 20 years. Through his various jobs, Larry would form lifelong friendships and relationships with coworkers and customers. Larry considered everywhere he worked much more than simply a job; they were an important part of his life and a source of lasting memories. Larry was always a hard and extremely loyal worker.

Larry had many passions throughout his life. He was an avid baseball fan who visited 31 MLB Stadiums. His favorite team was the Milwaukee Brewers with a tattoo on his arm to prove it. He also had a deep love for hot air ballooning and was a consistent crew member at various events throughout the USA getting his start at the Field of Flight in Battle Creek when he was only eight years old. At age 11 he received a stuffed bear for Christmas, “Bear” eventually took rides on over 90 balloons. He even kept a logbook for Bear, with the names of the balloons, the dates and places that Bear traveled. Larry’s wish is for Bear to continue flying throughout the ballooning community. Bear is quite a big deal in that world.

In his younger years, he enjoyed listening to Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 and would carefully record the weekly countdown onto cassette tapes. Remarkably, those recordings still exist today—a treasured reminder of Larry’s love for music and of a special time in his life.

He loved spending time at Firekeepers Casino, enjoying the penny slots, especially one named Cynthia, enjoying the delicious foods, making friends with staff and visitors and just hanging out. Larry was also a horror movie buff.

Larry was a kind, gentle, and extremely polite soul whose presence brought warmth and laughter to the people around him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a knack for harmless mischief, often keeping those who knew him smiling. But beneath that playful spirit was someone who could always be counted on. If a friend or loved one was in need, Larry would be there.

Larry’s life may have ended far too soon, but the friendships he made, the laughter he shared, and the kindness he showed others will remain with those who loved him.

Surviving are Larry’s mother, Linda Rose Stevens of Battle Creek; siblings, Mark (Jackie) Stevens of Fort Wayne, IN, Jeff (Shannon) Stevens of Battle Creek, Lisa (Jeff) Stevens-Wheaton of Battle Creek; seven nieces, Christina (Nick) Trahin, Michelle (Brian) Leist, Hannah Stevens, Meghan (Trevor) Halder, Addison Stevens, Chelsea (John Wondo) Stevens, Lindsey Wheaton, all their families and numerous cousins, friends and coworkers.
