Larry Bruce Welton

September 3, 1950 — April 17, 2016

Larry Bruce Welton of Battle Creek, MI

Larry, age 65, died as a result of injuries sustained from a motorcycle-car accident Sunday afternoon, April 17, 2016 in Battle Creek.

Larry, the son of Gordon and Bonnie (Graves) Welton, was born in Cadillac, MI on September 3, 1950 and spent most of his life in the Battle Creek area. He served his country honorably and nobly during the Vietnam War as a SP4 in the United States Army, F Battery of the 1st Calvary. Larry was a recipient of the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals. He was employed in numerous jobs from a fabricator to a salesman, even a disc jockey and was currently employed by the Veterans Administration Medical Center of Battle Creek. He was a member of Rhema World Outreach Center of Battle Creek. Larry enjoyed riding his Honda Shadow, loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids, going to garage sales, making people laugh, being a big kid, always had a big smile on his face and he would give you the shirt off his back and walk home without one. He loved PB&J sandwiches and Mountain Dew. The last day his son, Steve spent with him, he was recollecting all his old memories from Vietnam and when he was young, being very nostalgic. You might not have known it but Larry had a heart big enough for everyone and all you had to was ask!

Larry is survived by his daughter, Wendi M. Lambert of Battle Creek; two sons, Scott A. Dix of Battle Creek and Steven D. (Adriana) Doud of Kalamazoo, MI; a step-son, Johnny Abbott of Battle Creek; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Casey Welton of East Leroy, MI, Maryann Grammar of Morris, OK and Loretta (Richard) Swafford of Athens, TN and two brothers, Rocky (Ruthann) Welton and Robert (Diana) Welton, both of Morris, OK. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his infant son, Jeremy Welton.
