Lawrence Arthur Curtis

Lawrence Arthur Curtis, age 84, of Battle Creek died peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Marshall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his family at his side. He was born in Battle Creek on June 20, 1930, the son of Lawrence Donald and Easter Violet (Fruin) Curtis. Lawrence graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1949 and furthered his education at Argubright Business College. On June 1, 1987, Lawrence retired from the Eaton Corporation after more than 37 years of faithful service in Battle Creek and Marshall. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting and fishing.

Lawrence married his high school sweetheart, Marlene Fay Furlott on December 16, 1950; she survives. He is also survived by his sons, Mark A. (Margaret) Curtis of Elko, Nevada and Kent M. (Sandie) Curtis of Kalamazoo; his grandchildren, Aaron Curtis, Leah (Mark) Lytle, Deanna Curtis, and Kendra (Jason) DeYoung; his great-grandchildren, Jessica Lytle, Justine Lytle, Lauren DeYoung, Anna DeYoung, Charlotte DeYoung, and his brother, Bryce A. (Winnie) Curtis of Munger, Michigan.

A visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where funeral services to celebrate Lawrence's life will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2015 with Pastor Kelly Hadlich of Battle Creek Friends Church, officiating.
